CFR of invasive pneumococcal disease in children in LMICs range from 20% for septicaemia to 50% for meningitis. There are up to 25% long-term neurological sequelae (hearing loss, mental retardation, motor abnormalities) in survivors of childhood pneumococcal meningitis.
