Abstract
A national immunization technical advisory group’s (NITAG) standard operating procedures (SOPs) cover the process it follows in developing recommendations.
The below template describes the process of developing evidence-based NITAG recommendations using a systematic approach. It is intended to be used by NITAGs and to support in developing or revising their own SOPs. It is indicative only and should be adjusted based on the particular country context.
This template is based on the Guidance on an adapted evidence to recommendation process for national immunization technical advisory groups, developed by the WHO Regional Office for Europe and Robert Koch Institute and on the experiences of NITAGs in using this Guidance. It also incorporates insights from the experiences of the WHO Strategic Advisory Group of Experts on Immunization (SAGE) and long-functioning NITAGs, including the United States Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP); the German Standing Committee on Vaccinations (STIKO); and the United Kingdom’s Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunization (JCVI).
