CAVEI recommendation on HPV vaccine for schoolboys

CAVEI recommends the incorporation of HPV vaccine in schoolboys in order to reduce the disease burden of HPV infection and associated tumor lesions (malignant and pre-malignant oral and genital lesions), in addition to genital warts.
As an implementation strategy, it is recommended to incorporate the HPV vaccine for schoolboys in conjunction with the current administration of the HPV vaccine in the 4th year of basic education, in a two-dose schedule.
This strategy should be supported by an epidemiological surveillance program that allows an adequate measurement of its impact, together with an active and permanent program of sexual health education aimed at preventing sexually transmitted infections among students.
