Abstract

The Superior Council for Infectious Diseases recommends the vaccination of children born prematurely (before 37 weeks amenorrhea):

  • according to the chronological age of the child
  • by completing the universal scheme with a dose additional :
    • pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (3+1 schedule at 8, 12, 16 weeks and at 1 year of age) for premature <33 weeks or <1500 g
    • vaccine against hepatitis B (scheme 3+1 to 8, 12, 16 weeks and at the age of 13 months) for premature babies <2000g
  • by completing the universal vaccination schedule with:
    • vaccination against seasonal influenza for children premature <33 weeks, for the first 2 seasons winter
    • immunization against RSV for premature infants during the winter season.

The CSMI also recommends checking and updating the vaccination status of those close to the child born prematurely, in particularly against whooping cough, and to vaccinate those around you against seasonal flu during the first 2 winters.
