Abstract

COPI held its meeting on July 14th, 2015 and discussed the introduction of the measles and rubella vaccine. The committee made a recommendation to conduct a study on the seroprevalence of antibodies against rubella virus and to strengthen epidemiological monitoring activities especially to identify rubella and rubella congenital syndromes.

COPI also recommends carrying out a national measles and rubella vaccination campaign for children aged between 9 months and 14 years old. Once the campaign is completed, COPI recommends that Mozambique introduce the vaccine against measles and rubella in its routine immunization programme for children of 18 months, followed by a booster dose for children aged between 4 and 6.
