Meningococcal vaccines: WHO position paper on the use of multivalent meningococcal conjugate vaccines in countries of the African meningitis belt, January 2024

This addendum to 2011 WHO position paper on meningococcal vaccines is concerned with vaccines and vaccination against meningococcal disease caused by Neisseria meningitidis. In recent years there have been important developments in the field of meningococcal vaccines, including the licensure of a new multivalent conjugate vaccine and new data on the impact of vaccines and the epidemiology of meningococcal disease in countries of the African meningitis belt. It complements the 2011 WHO position paper on meningococcal vaccines and the 2015 updated guidance on meningococcal A conjugate vaccine.
