Prof Barbouche is an immunologist by training and sits among the experts of the National Immunization Technical Advisory Group (NITAG) since 2016. During these years, he has contributed to all regular and extraordinary meetings and contributed to the management of several outbreaks of measles and hepatitis A as well as analysis of all cases of suspected iVDPV excretion. During the first mandate, pneumococcal vaccination of children became effective in the public health sector following a convincing cost-benefit study conducted by the group.
During the COVID pandemic, Prof Barbouche has also been involved as an expert in the Ministry of Health decisions regarding emergency use of COVID-19 vaccines.
