The 2015 PAHO TAG Report has been published

The XXIII Meeting of the Technical Advisory Group (TAG) on Vaccine‐preventable Diseases of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) was held in Varadero, Cuba on 1-3 July 2015.The slogan for the meeting was “Bye-bye rubella! Let’s go for more!” selected in recognition of the recent certification of the regional elimination of rubella and Congenital Rubella Syndrome (CRS). The objectives of this meeting were to present the Regional adaptation of the Global Vaccine Action Plan (GVAP), to review progress on several disease elimination and control initiatives and issue recommendations to address the many challenges faced by national immunization programs in the Americas.

The final report has been pubished and can be accessed here.

It presents various updates including maternal immunization,  the status of Measles, Rubella, and Congenital Rubella Syndrome Elimination, HPV vaccination, dengue vaccine development as well as NITAGs. The recommendation of the regional immunization action plan are also included in the report.

    Last year, the recommendations made by the Strategic Advisory Group of Experts on Immunization (SAGE) in the mid-term review of the Global Vaccine Action Plan (GVAP) informed the development of a new World Health Assembly Resolution (WHA70.14), approved in May 2017. WHO Member States renewed their commitment to strengthen governance and leadership of national immunization programmes to accelerate progress to achieve the GVAP goals.     Call for Nominations of experts

    The WHO Regional Office for Africa is soliciting proposals for nominations for current vacancies on its Regional Immunization Technical Advisory Group (RITAG). Nominations are required to be submitted no later than 04 September 2017.  Nominations will be carefully reviewed by the RITAG membership selection panel which will propose the selection of nominees for appointment to the WHO Regional Director for Africa.
