The NITAG session at the April SAGE meeting 2017 includes presentations of three committees: JCVI (UK NITAG), Sri Lanka and Senegal. The NITAG of Cote d'Ivoire is taking this opportunity to present its success and challenges.

    African Sub-Regional Workshop of NITAGs Secretariats for the Western Region


    The SIVAC initiative organized the second African Sub-regional workshop of NITAGs secretariats for the western region which was held in Abidjan from 13 to 14th October 2015. The workshop was attended by members of the NITAGs Secretariats from Benin, Senagal, Burkina Faso and Côte d'Ivoire. The workshop aimed at reinforcing collaboration between NITAGs by sharing information, discussing technical subjects of common interest and promoting peer support. 

    Discussion sessions on technical and strategical issues were held, including on:

    • Recommendation framework by NITAGs on the introduction of the first dose of hepatitis B vaccine  at birth (within 24 hours to 72 hours) and on the improvement of immunization coverage. 
    • NITAGs strategies  to contribute more efficiently to reach the objectives of the Global Vaccine Action Plan 2011-2020 and the Regional Strategic Plan for Immunization 2014-2020.
    • Identification of approaches for sustainable responses to financial and institutional issues faced by NITAGs

  • Third Global NITAG Network (GNN) meeting


    The Global NITAG Network (GNN) meeting was organized this year by the Public Health Agency of Canada with the strong support of WHO HQ. This annual meeting brought National Immunization Technical Advisory Group (NITAG) members from across the globe to Ottawa to discuss the network’s activities, the barriers to reach the GVAP target and the lessons learnt in building NITAG structure and evaluating NITAGs.
